Founded in June 2006 by Jose Berbel, Austin Granite Direct began its journey from the back of a pick-up truck, cutting granite manually and handling slabs with rented bulldozers. In its initial year, the company, operating out of Southeast Austin, achieved an impressive $1 million in revenue and installed over 18,000 square feet of granite.
After surviving the recession and multiple challenges in its early years, Austin Granite Direct’s story of tenacity and innovation is one that resonates deeply in the business community of Central Texas. In July 2007, they moved into a 5,000 square foot facility and began to expand. Not even the economic downturn of 2008 could slow them down, as they continued to grow and preserve jobs.
They made a name for themselves by securing a prestigious contract for the Keith Ware Holiday Inn Express in 2009 and later became the first fabricator in Austin to stock its own granite colors. As the company grew, they faced new challenges and opportunities, leading to the acquisition of a new facility and remodeling it to accommodate a retail showroom.
Honored twice as one of the Austin Fastest 50 Growing Companies, and having its projects featured in the prestigious Southern Living Magazine, Austin Granite Direct exemplifies a business success story that transcends the ordinary.
With a wide variety of inventory and fabrication offerings across two showrooms, Austin Granite Direct has carved a niche for itself in the local market, emerging as a symbol of entrepreneurial spirit, resilience, and quality. Their wide selection of 30 different color selections, including marbles, quartzites, calcites, granites, and engineered stones, is a testament to the company’s commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
Operating out of two locations in Austin, TX, and boasting an ever-growing inventory, Austin Granite Direct continues to be a leader in the industry, a benchmark for others, and a testament to what determination, hard work, and visionary leadership can achieve.
